Subsection (1) of section 43.291, Florida 6 Statutes, is amended to read: 7 43.291 Judicial nominating commissions.— 8 (1) Each judicial nominating commission shall be composed 9 of the following members: 10 (a) Four members of The Florida Bar, appointed by the 11 Governor, who are engaged in the practice of law, each of whom 12 is a resident of the territorial jurisdiction served by the 13 commission to which the member is appointed. The Attorney 14 General and the Board of Governors of The Florida Bar shall 15 submit to the Governor three recommended nominees for each 16 position. The Governor shall select the appointee from the list 17 of nominees recommended for that position, but the Governor may 18 reject all of the nominees recommended for a position and 19 request that the Attorney General and the Board of Governors 20 submit a new list of three different recommended nominees for 21 that position who have not been previously recommended by the 22 Attorney General and the Board of Governors. 23 (b) Five members appointed by the Governor, each of whom is 24 a resident of the territorial jurisdiction served by the 25 commission to which the member is appointed, of which at least 26 two are members of The Florida Bar engaged in the practice of 27 law. 28 29 ================= T I T L E A M E N D M E N T ================ 30 And the title is amended as follows: 31 Delete lines 4 - 9 32 and insert: 33 General and the Board of Governors of The Florida Bar 34 to submit nominees for certain positions on judicial 35 nominating commissions; providing
