A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to an exemption from hunter safety course
3requirements; amending ss. 379.353 and 379.3581, F.S.;
4providing an exemption from hunter safety course
5requirements for a person issued a permit, license, or
6authorization to take game or fur-bearing animals on
7private land; directing the Fish and Wildlife Conservation
8Commission to adopt rules; providing an effective date.

10Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12     Section 1.  Subsection (3) is added to section 379.353,
13Florida Statutes, to read:
14     379.353  Recreational licenses and permits; exemptions from
15fees and requirements.-
16     (3)  A person who is issued a permit, license, or
17authorization to take game or fur-bearing animals on private
18land is exempt from s. 379.3581.
19     Section 2.  Paragraph (a) of subsection (2) of section
20379.3581, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
21     379.3581  Hunter safety course; requirements; penalty.-
22     (2)(a)  Except as provided in paragraph (b) and s.
23379.353(3), a person born on or after June 1, 1975, may not be
24issued a license to take wild animal life with the use of a
25firearm, gun, bow, or crossbow in this state without having
26first successfully completed a hunter safety course as provided
27in this section, and without having in his or her personal
28possession a hunter safety certification card, as provided in
29this section.
30     Section 3.  The Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission
31is directed to adopt rules providing for the issuance of a
32permit, license, or authorization to take game or fur-bearing
33animals on private land. The rules shall require a person to
34affirm that the person understands the restriction of the
35permit, license, or authorization and that the person is of age
36and knowledgeable in hunter safety.
37     Section 4.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.
