| 1 | House Resolution | 
| 2 | A resolution commending the osteopathic physicians of this  | 
| 3 | state and designating April 13, 2011, as "Osteopathic  | 
| 4 | Medicine Day" in the State of Florida. | 
| 5 | 
  | 
| 6 |      WHEREAS, there are currently more than 70,000 osteopathic  | 
| 7 | physicians in the United States and more than 4,000 osteopathic  | 
| 8 | physicians practicing in Florida, and | 
| 9 |      WHEREAS, osteopathic physicians provide health care  | 
| 10 | services that account for approximately 76 million patient  | 
| 11 | visits in this country each year, and | 
| 12 |      WHEREAS, this state has three accredited osteopathic  | 
| 13 | hospitals, two osteopathic medical colleges, and the third  | 
| 14 | largest osteopathic physician population in the United States,  | 
| 15 | and | 
| 16 |      WHEREAS, osteopathic physicians provide comprehensive  | 
| 17 | medical care, including preventive medicine, diagnoses, and the  | 
| 18 | appropriate use of drugs, surgery, manipulation, and hospital  | 
| 19 | referrals, NOW, THEREFORE, | 
| 20 |

| 21 | Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of  | 
| 22 | Florida: | 
| 23 | 
  | 
| 24 |      That the House of Representatives commends the osteopathic  | 
| 25 | physicians of this state for their contributions to the health  | 
| 26 | and welfare of the residents of this state and designates April  | 
| 27 | 13, 2011, as "Osteopathic Medicine Day" in the State of Florida. |
