| 5 | WHEREAS, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., is a public |
| 6 | service organization founded on January 5, 1911, by ten great |
| 7 | men at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, where its |
| 8 | grand objective was to unite college men in a bond of |
| 9 | fraternity, and |
| 10 | WHEREAS, during Kappa Alpha Psi's 100-year history, its |
| 11 | members have vowed to make great achievements in all fields of |
| 12 | human endeavor, and |
| 13 | WHEREAS, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., is a brotherhood |
| 14 | of college-educated men committed to executing the fraternity's |
| 15 | ideals through its Guide Right programs: GLAD (Greeks Learning |
| 16 | to Avoid Debt), Sunday of Hope, iKare (International Kappa |
| 17 | Action Relief Effort), the Piney Woods School, the Kappa Alpha |
| 18 | Psi Foundation, political awareness programs, and international |
| 19 | awareness and involvement, and |
| 20 | WHEREAS, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., recently |
| 21 | celebrated its centennial anniversary of exemplary service and |
| 22 | support to local communities, leading dialogue on public policy |
| 23 | issues, supporting quality education, and producing new projects |
| 24 | to stimulate current and future economic growth, and |
| 25 | WHEREAS, with over 100,000 college-educated men initiated |
| 26 | since the fraternity's founding in 1911 and over 400 |
| 27 | undergraduate chapters and 391 alumni chapters worldwide, |
| 28 | members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., are clearly focused |
| 29 | and visible as corporate and civic leaders, respected public |
| 30 | officials, acclaimed academicians, and activists in their own |
| 31 | right, and |
| 32 | WHEREAS, on March 23, 2011, members of Kappa Alpha Psi |
| 33 | Fraternity, Inc., representing Florida and the Bahamas, will |
| 34 | converge on Tallahassee to conduct the second annual "Kappas at |
| 35 | the Kapitol Day," and |
| 36 | WHEREAS, Justice James E.C. Perry of the Florida Supreme |
| 37 | Court; Senator Oscar Braynon II, Representatives Dwight M. |
| 38 | Bullard, Perry E. Thurston, Jr., and Alan B. Williams; and |
| 39 | former Representatives Edward B. "Ed" Bullard, Josephus |
| 40 | Eggelletion, Jr., Edward L. "Ed" Jennings, Jr., Daryl L. Jones, |
| 41 | and Matthew J. "Matt" Meadows are esteemed members of Kappa |
| 42 | Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., NOW, THEREFORE, |

| 44 | Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of |
| 45 | Florida: |

| 47 | That March 23, 2011, is recognized as the second annual |
| 48 | "Kappas at the Kapitol Day" in Florida in recognition of the |
| 49 | many contributions that the members of Kappa Alpha Psi |
| 50 | Fraternity, Inc., have made to this state. |
