| 5 | WHEREAS, children who have had a loved one die, especially |
| 6 | a friend or close family member, can carry that loss with them |
| 7 | forever, causing confusion and fearfulness as they struggle to |
| 8 | understand why their loved one was taken away, and |
| 9 | WHEREAS, many trained professionals working at dedicated |
| 10 | children's grief centers throughout the state offer bereavement |
| 11 | counseling to children and their families, and |
| 12 | WHEREAS, such counseling provides emotional support for |
| 13 | children struggling with grief, allowing them to find guidance |
| 14 | and understanding during an extremely difficult time, and |
| 15 | WHEREAS, on November 17, 2011, citizens and communities |
| 16 | throughout Florida are encouraged to wear blue in an effort to |
| 17 | raise awareness and show their support for mournful children and |
| 18 | the grief centers that seek to serve those young people |
| 19 | confounded by the reality of death, NOW, THEREFORE, |

| 21 | Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of |

| 24 | That the Florida House of Representatives designates |
| 25 | November 17, 2011, as "Children's Grief Awareness Day" in |
| 26 | Florida. |
