House Resolution
2A resolution designating April 6 and 7, 2011, as Miami-
3Dade County Days" at the Capitol.

5     WHEREAS, greater Miami-Dade County contains thousands of
6businesses that employ millions of people and is the site of
7foreign consulates, international trade offices, and bi-national
8chambers of commerce, and
9     WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County is a center of world finance,
10with hundreds of financial institutions and foreign agencies
11within its boundaries, and
12     WHEREAS, the film and music industries have made Miami-Dade
13County one of the largest production centers in the nation, and
14     WHEREAS, agriculture continues to provide millions of
15dollars annually in economic activity to Miami-Dade County, and
16the agricultural industry has diversified in such a manner that
17Miami-Dade County is now one of the largest producers in the
18United States of tropical fruits, ornamental plants, and fish,
19and
20     WHEREAS, manufacturing is also a key industry in Miami-Dade
21County, with thousands of companies employing tens of thousands
22of individuals in manufacturing jobs, and
23     WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County is currently experiencing a
24cultural boom in world-class entertainment and cultural
25activities, which is evidenced by the thousands of nonprofit
26cultural organizations offering dance, theater, music, visual
27arts, and various festivals and special events, and
28     WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade County community is a microcosm of
29the world in which scores of countries are represented and
30diverse languages are spoken daily, and
31     WHEREAS, 22 years ago, the late Representative John F.
32Cosgrove, as chair of the former Dade County legislative
33delegation, worked with the private sector to create what is now
34Miami-Dade County Days in Tallahassee, NOW, THEREFORE,

36Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
37Florida:

39     That April 6 and 7, 2011, are designated as "Miami-Dade
40County Days" at the Capitol.
