Florida Senate - 2011 SB 992 By Senator Dockery 15-00948A-11 2011992__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to public school funding; requiring 3 the Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government 4 Accountability to conduct a study to determine minimum 5 per-student funding to meet constitutional 6 requirements; requiring a report to the Legislature; 7 providing an effective date. 8 9 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 10 11 Section 1. (1) The Office of Program Policy Analysis and 12 Government Accountability (OPPAGA) shall conduct a study to 13 determine the minimum amount of dollars per student needed to 14 meet the requirement in Section 1 of Article IX of the State 15 Constitution which declares: “Adequate provision shall be made 16 by law for a uniform, efficient, safe, secure, and high quality 17 system of free public schools that allows students to obtain a 18 high quality education.” 19 (2) The minimum amount of dollars per kindergarten through 20 grade 12 student shall be a statewide average calculated for 21 basic education programs. 22 (3) OPPAGA shall submit a report of its findings and 23 determination to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of 24 the House of Representatives by December 1, 2011. 25 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.
