Floor: WD . 03/07/2012 12:02 PM . ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— Senator Flores moved the following: 1 Senate Amendment 2 3 In title, delete lines 51 - 65 4 and insert: 5 WHEREAS, for several hours during the afternoon of 6 September 5, 1997, the dosage of Pitocin was consistently 7 increased and Mitzi Roden began to experience contractions 8 closer than every 2 minutes at 4:50 p.m., and began to 9 experience excessive uterine contractility shortly before 6 10 p.m., which should have been recognized by any reasonably 11 competent obstetric care provider, and 12 WHEREAS, in spite of Mitzi Roden’s excessive uterine 13 contractility, the administration of Pitocin was inappropriately 14 increased to 13 milliunits at 6:20 p.m. by Labor and Delivery 15 Nurse Terry McKelvie, which was a deviation from the acceptable 16 standard of care for obstetric health care providers because, in 17 fact, it should have been discontinued, and 18 WHEREAS, reasonable obstetric care required that Dr. 19 DeVall, the obstetrician who was ultimately responsible for
