       The Committee on Military Affairs, Space, and Domestic Security
       (Norman) recommended the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with directory, ballot, and title
    2  amendments)

    4         Between lines 106 and 107
    5  insert:

    7                              SCHEDULE                             
    8         SECTION 32. Ad valorem tax relief for surviving spouses of
    9  veterans who died from service-connected causes and first
   10  responders who died in the line of duty.—This section and the
   11  amendment to Section 6 of Article VII permitting the legislature
   12  to provide ad valorem tax relief to surviving spouses of
   13  veterans who died from service-connected causes and first
   14  responders who died in the line of duty shall take effect
   15  January 1, 2013.

   18         And the directory clause is amended as follows:
   19         Delete lines 13 - 14
   20  and insert:
   21         That the following amendment to Section 6 of Article VII
   22  and the creation of Section 32 of Article XII of the State
   23  Constitution are agreed to and shall be submitted to

   26         And the ballot statement is amended as follows:

   39  and insert:
   40         of Article VII and the creation of Section 32 of
   41         Article XII of the State Constitution to allow the
   42         Legislature by general law to provide ad valorem
   43         homestead property tax relief to the surviving spouse
   44         of a military veteran who died from service-connected
   45         causes while on active duty or a surviving spouse of a
   46         first responder who died in the line of duty, provide
   47         definitions with respect thereto, and provide an
   48         effective date.
