       Senator Bennett moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment to Amendment (928190) (with title
    2  amendment)
    3  
    4         Delete lines 1049 - 1052
    5  and insert:
    6         Section 30. Paragraph (a) of subsection (3) of section
    7  320.06, Florida Statutes, is amended, and subsections (5) and
    8  (6) are added to that section, to read:
    9         320.06 Registration certificates, license plates, and
   10  validation stickers generally.—
   11         (3)(a) Registration license plates must be made of metal
   12  specially treated with a retroreflection material, as specified
   13  by the department, if such specifications do not contain
   14  proprietary requirements that would eliminate qualified vendors.
   15  The registration license plate is designed to increase nighttime
   16  visibility and legibility and must be at least 6 inches wide and
   17  not less than 12 inches in length, unless a plate with reduced
   18  dimensions is deemed necessary by the department to accommodate
   19  motorcycles, mopeds, or similar smaller vehicles. Validation
   20  stickers must also be treated with a retroreflection material,
   21  must be of such size as specified by the department, and must
   22  adhere to the license plate. The registration license plate must
   23  be imprinted with a combination of bold letters and numerals or
   24  numerals, not to exceed seven digits, to identify the
   25  registration license plate number. The license plate must be
   26  imprinted with the word “Florida” at the top and the name of the
   27  county in which it is sold, the state motto, or the words
   28  “Sunshine State” at the bottom. Apportioned license plates must
   29  have the word “Apportioned” at the bottom and license plates
   30  issued for vehicles taxed under s. 320.08(3)(d), (4)(m) or (n),
   31  (5)(b) or (c), or (14) must have the word “Restricted” at the
   32  bottom. License plates issued for vehicles taxed under s.
   33  320.08(12) must be imprinted with the word “Florida” at the top
   34  and the word “Dealer” at the bottom. Manufacturer license plates
   35  issued for vehicles taxed under s. 320.08(12) must be imprinted
   36  with the word “Florida” at the top and the word “Manufacturer”
   37  at the bottom. License plates issued for vehicles taxed under s.
   38  320.08(5)(d) or (e) must be imprinted with the word “Wrecker” at
   39  the bottom. Any county may, upon majority vote of the county
   40  commission, elect to have the county name removed from the
   41  license plates sold in that county. The state motto or the words
   42  “Sunshine State” shall be printed in lieu thereof. A license
   43  plate issued for a vehicle taxed under s. 320.08(6) may not be
   44  assigned a registration license number, or be issued with any
   45  other distinctive character or designation, that distinguishes
   46  the motor vehicle as a for-hire motor vehicle.
