The Committee on Transportation (Latvala) recommended the
following:

4 and insert:
5 Section 53. Subsection (2) of section 322.54, Florida
6 Statutes, is amended to read:
7 322.54 Classification.—
8 (2) The department shall issue, pursuant to the
9 requirements of this chapter, driver drivers’ licenses in
10 accordance with the following classifications:
11 (a) Any person who drives a motor vehicle combination
12 having a gross vehicle weight rating or gross vehicle weight of
13 26,001 pounds or more must possess a valid Class A driver
14 driver’s license, if provided the gross vehicle weight rating or
15 gross vehicle weight of the vehicle being towed is more than
16 10,000 pounds. Any person who possesses a valid Class A driver
17 driver’s license may, subject to the appropriate restrictions
18 and endorsements, drive any class of motor vehicle within this
19 state.
20 (b) Any person, except a person who possesses a valid Class
21 A driver driver’s license, who drives a motor vehicle having a
22 gross vehicle weight rating or gross vehicle weight of 26,001
23 pounds or more must possess a valid Class B driver driver’s
24 license. Any person, except a person who possesses a valid Class
25 A driver driver’s license, who drives such vehicle towing a
26 vehicle having a gross vehicle weight rating of 10,000 pounds or
27 less must possess a valid Class B driver driver’s license. Any
28 person who possesses a valid Class B driver driver’s license
29 may, subject to the appropriate restrictions and endorsements,
30 drive any class of motor vehicle, other than the type of motor
31 vehicle for which a Class A driver driver’s license is required,
32 within this state.
33 (c) Any person, except a person who possesses a valid Class
34 A or a valid Class B driver driver’s license, who drives a motor
35 vehicle having a gross vehicle weight rating of less than 26,001
36 pounds and who is required to obtain an endorsement pursuant to
37 paragraph (1)(b), paragraph (1)(c), or paragraph (1)(e) of s.
38 322.57, must possess a valid Class C driver driver’s license.
39 Any person who possesses a valid Class C driver driver’s license
40 may, subject to the appropriate restrictions and endorsements,
41 drive any class of motor vehicle, other than the type of motor
42 vehicle for which a Class A or a Class B driver driver’s license
43 is required, within this state.
44 (d) Any person, except a person who possesses a valid Class
45 A, valid Class B, or valid Class C driver driver’s license, who
46 drives a motor vehicle must possess a valid Class E driver
47 driver’s license. Any person who possesses a valid Class E
48 driver driver’s license may, subject to the appropriate
49 restrictions and endorsements, drive any type of motor vehicle,
50 other than the type of motor vehicle for which a Class A, Class
51 B, or Class C driver driver’s license is required, within this
52 state.

58 F.S.; requiring that persons who drive a motor vehicle
59 having a gross vehicle weight rating or gross vehicle
60 weight of a specified amount or more possess certain
61 classifications of driver licenses;
