Paragraph (b) of subsection (7) of section 6 893.055, Florida Statutes, is amended to read: 7 893.055 Prescription drug monitoring program.— 8 (7) 9 (b) A pharmacy, prescriber, or dispenser shall have access 10 to information in the prescription drug monitoring program’s 11 database which relates to a patient, or a potential patient, of 12 that pharmacy, prescriber, or dispenser in a manner established 13 by the department as needed for the purpose of reviewing the 14 patient’s controlled substance prescription history. Other 15 access to the program’s database shall be limited to the 16 program’s manager and to the designated program and support 17 staff, who may act only at the direction of the program manager 18 or, in the absence of the program manager, as authorized. Access 19 by the program manager or such designated staff is for 20 prescription drug program management only or for management of 21 the program’s database and its system in support of the 22 requirements of this section and in furtherance of the 23 prescription drug monitoring program. Confidential and exempt 24 information in the database shall be released only as provided 25 in paragraph (c) and s. 893.0551. The program manager, 26 designated program and support staff who act at the direction of 27 or in the absence of the program manager, and any individual who 28 has similar access regarding the management of the database from 29 the prescription drug monitoring program shall submit 30 fingerprints to the department for background screening. The 31 department shall follow the procedure established by the 32 Department of Law Enforcement to request a statewide criminal 33 history record check and to request that the Department of Law 34 Enforcement forward the fingerprints to the Federal Bureau of 35 Investigation for a national criminal history record check. 36 37 ================= T I T L E A M E N D M E N T ================ 38 And the title is amended as follows: 39 Delete line 19 40 and insert: 41 board-certified psychiatrist or rheumatologist; 42 amending s. 893.055, F.S.; requiring that a pharmacy, 43 prescriber, or dispenser have access to information in 44 the prescription drug monitoring program’s database 45 which relates to a patient, or a potential patient, of 46 that pharmacy, prescriber, or dispenser for the 47 purpose of reviewing the patient’s controlled 48 substance prescription history;
