Florida Senate - 2012 CS for SB 1298 By the Committee on Transportation; and Senator Detert 596-03071-12 20121298c1 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to identification cards and driver 3 licenses; amending s. 322.051, F.S.; providing for a 4 veteran to have a temporary sticker affixed to a state 5 identification card which indicates veteran status; 6 providing for a fee; amending s. 322.14, F.S.; 7 providing for a veteran to have a temporary sticker 8 affixed to a driver license which indicates veteran 9 status; providing for a fee; providing an effective 10 date. 11 12 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 13 14 Section 1. Paragraph (b) of subsection (8) of section 15 322.051, Florida Statutes, is amended to read: 16 322.051 Identification cards.— 17 (8) 18 (b) A capital “V” shall be exhibited on the identification 19 card of a veteran upon the payment of an additional $1 fee for 20 the license and the presentation of a copy of the person’s DD 21 Form 214, issued by the United States Department of Defense. 22 Until a veteran’s identification card is next renewed, the 23 veteran may have a temporary “V” sticker issued by the 24 department and affixed to his or her identification card upon 25 the payment of a $2 fee and presentation of a copy of his or her 26 DD Form 214 or another acceptable form specified by the 27 Department of Veterans’ Affairs. An additional fee for the “V” 28 designation will not be charged if the veteran previously paid a 29 designation fee. 30 Section 2. Paragraph (c) of subsection (1) of section 31 322.14, Florida Statutes, is amended to read: 32 322.14 Licenses issued to drivers.— 33 (1) 34 (c) A capital “V” shall be exhibited on the driverdriver’s35 license of a veteran upon the payment of an additional $1 fee 36 for the license and the presentation of a copy of the person’s 37 DD Form 214, issued by the United States Department of Defense. 38 Until a veteran’s license is next renewed, the veteran may have 39 a temporary “V” sticker issued by the department and affixed to 40 his or her license upon the payment of a $2 fee and presentation 41 of a copy of his or her DD Form 214 or another acceptable form 42 stipulated by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs. An additional 43 fee for the “V” designation will not be charged if the veteran 44 previously paid a designation fee. 45 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2012.
