       Senator Altman moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Between lines 1063 and 1064
    4  insert:
    5         Section 17. Beginning 1 year after notice by the Department
    6  of Economic Opportunity to the Department of Revenue that the
    7  Department of Economic Opportunity has approved a plan developed
    8  by the Florida Institute of Technology for establishing a space
    9  exploration research institute, the Department of Revenue shall
   10  distribute $416,666 per month to the Florida Institute of
   11  Technology for the purpose of operating a space exploration
   12  research institute. This amount represents sales and use taxes
   13  generated by visitor activity at the Kennedy Space Center and
   14  the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The Florida Institute of
   15  Technology shall develop a plan for the space exploration
   16  research institute in conjunction with Space Florida.

   19         And the title is amended as follows:
   20         Delete line 68
   21  and insert:
   22         providing for application; directing the Department of
   23         Revenue, after notice by the Department of Economic
   24         Opportunity that certain contingencies have been met,
   25         to distribute funds to the Florida Institute of
   26         Technology to operate a space exploration research
   27         institute; requiring the Florida Institute of
   28         Technology to work in conjunction with Space Florida
   29         to develop a plan for the institute; providing
   30         effective dates.
