Florida Senate - 2012 (NP) SR 1344 By Senator Fasano 11-01606-12 20121344__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution commending the osteopathic physicians of 3 this state and recognizing January 18, 2012, as 4 “Osteopathic Medicine Day” in Florida. 5 6 WHEREAS, there are currently more than 70,000 osteopathic 7 physicians in the United States who provide health care services 8 that account for more than 76 million patient visits each year, 9 and 10 WHEREAS, this state has three accredited osteopathic 11 hospitals, two osteopathic medical colleges, and the third 12 largest osteopathic physician population in the nation, and 13 WHEREAS, osteopathic manipulation of the musculoskeletal 14 system is a viable and proven technique for many diagnoses and 15 treatments and provides an alternative to many drug therapies, 16 and 17 WHEREAS, osteopathic physicians provide comprehensive 18 medical care, including preventive medicine, diagnoses, and the 19 appropriate use of drugs, surgery, manipulation, and hospital 20 referrals, NOW, THEREFORE, 21 22 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 23 24 That the members of the Senate commend the osteopathic 25 physicians of this state and recognize January 18, 2012, as 26 “Osteopathic Medicine Day” in Florida.
