Florida Senate - 2012 SB 1540 By Senator Hays 20-01104A-12 20121540__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to the restoration of Lake Apopka; 3 requiring the Department of Environmental Protection, 4 the St. Johns River Water Management District, the 5 Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the 6 Zellwood Drainage and Water Control District, the Lake 7 County Water Authority, the Harris Chain of Lakes 8 Restoration Council, and local governmental entities 9 located within the jurisdictional boundaries of the 10 districts to collaborate in order to create a report 11 for the Legislature and Governor; providing guidelines 12 for the report; providing a due date for the report; 13 providing an effective date. 14 15 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 16 17 Section 1. The Department of Environmental Protection, the 18 St. Johns River Water Management District, the Fish and Wildlife 19 Conservation Commission, the Zellwood Drainage and Water Control 20 District, the Lake County Water Authority, the Harris Chain of 21 Lakes Restoration Council, and local governmental entities 22 located within the jurisdictional boundaries of the districts 23 shall collaborate to create a report for the Legislature. The 24 report shall provide information on the status of the 25 improvement and management of Lake Apopka, as required in s. 26 373.461, Florida Statutes, make recommendations for future 27 efforts necessary to restore Lake Apopka, and specify and 28 account for all funds received for the restoration of Lake 29 Apopka. The report shall be submitted to the President of the 30 Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the 31 Governor by January 1, 2013. 32 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
