       Senator Smith moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Between lines 39 and 40
    4  insert:
    5         Section 2. Paragraph (a) of subsection (1) of section
    6  101.657, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
    7         101.657 Early voting.—
    8         (1)(a) As a convenience to the voter, the supervisor of
    9  elections shall allow an elector to vote early in the main or
   10  branch office of the supervisor or designated precinct pursuant
   11  to s. 101.001(1). The supervisor shall mark, code, indicate on,
   12  or otherwise track the voter’s precinct for each early voted
   13  ballot. In order for a branch office or designated precinct to
   14  be used for early voting, it shall be a permanent facility of
   15  the supervisor used during primary, special, and general
   16  elections and shall have been designated and used as such for at
   17  least 1 year prior to the election. The supervisor may also
   18  designate any city hall, designated precinct, or permanent
   19  public library facility as early voting sites; however, if so
   20  designated, the sites must be geographically located so as to
   21  provide all voters in the county an equal opportunity to cast a
   22  ballot, insofar as is practicable. The results or tabulation of
   23  votes cast during early voting may not be made before the close
   24  of the polls on election day. Results shall be reported by
   25  precinct.
