Florida Senate - 2012 SJR 1674 By Senator Altman 24-00721-12 20121674__ 1 Senate Joint Resolution 2 A joint resolution rescinding and withdrawing House 3 Joint Resolution 1471 (2011), which relates to 4 religious freedom, contingent upon adoption of a joint 5 resolution proposing an alternative amendment to the 6 State Constitution. 7 8 Be It Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 9 10 That House Joint Resolution 1471, adopted in the 2011 11 Regular Session and entitled “A joint resolution proposing an 12 amendment to Section 3 of Article I of the State Constitution to 13 eradicate remnants of anti-religious bigotry from the State 14 Constitution and to end exclusionary funding practices that 15 discriminate on the basis of religious belief or identity,” is 16 rescinded and withdrawn. 17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the proposed amendment to 18 Section 3 of Article I of the State Constitution not be 19 submitted to the electors of this state for approval or 20 rejection at the 2012 general election and the Secretary of 21 State shall withhold House Joint Resolution 1471 (2011) from the 22 ballot. 23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this joint resolution shall 24 take effect only if Senate Joint Resolution ____ or similar 25 legislation is adopted by the Legislature.
