Florida Senate - 2012 (NP) SR 2034 By Senator Jones 13-01930-12 20122034__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution recognizing February 14 and 15, 2012, as 3 “Massage Therapy Legislative Awareness Days” in 4 Florida. 5 6 WHEREAS, members of the Florida State Massage Therapy 7 Association and the Florida Chapter of the American Massage 8 Therapy Association throughout this state are actively involved 9 in public awareness and health programs aimed at improving the 10 health and quality of life of Florida residents, and 11 WHEREAS, the Florida State Massage Therapy Association and 12 the Florida Chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association 13 have been holding Massage Therapy Legislative Awareness Days 14 since 1988 for the purpose of educating the Legislature and the 15 public concerning the many health benefits of massage therapy, 16 and 17 WHEREAS, massage therapists have been licensed and 18 regulated in this state since 1943 and, today, more than 30,323 19 massage therapists are regulated by the Board of Massage Therapy 20 within the Department of Health under chapter 480, Florida 21 Statutes, and 22 WHEREAS, massage therapy is a low-cost, high-quality means 23 of enhancing and restoring health, and increased awareness of 24 the benefits of massage therapy will lead to improved health and 25 vitality of the residents of this state, and 26 WHEREAS, the Legislature recognizes the benefits of massage 27 therapy for wellness and preventive health measures, NOW, 28 THEREFORE, 29 30 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 31 32 That February 14 and 15, 2012, are recognized as “Massage 33 Therapy Legislative Awareness Days” in Florida.
