    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution expressing the deepest sympathy of the
    3         members of the Senate on the death in the line of duty
    4         of Clay County Sheriff Deputy David Adam White.
    5  
    6         WHEREAS, David Adam White was born in Jacksonville on
    7  November 11, 1976, and later moved to Clay County, where, in
    8  1995, he graduated from Middleburg High School, and
    9         WHEREAS, David Adam White joined the U.S. Army Reserves in
   10  1996 and became a military police officer and platoon commander,
   11  serving from August 1997 to April 1998 in Bosnia in support of
   12  Operation Joint Guard, and
   13         WHEREAS, David Adam White attended St. Johns River
   14  Community College and, in 2001, graduated from the University of
   15  Central Florida with a criminal justice degree, and
   16         WHEREAS, in 2001, David Adam White joined the Clay County
   17  Sheriff’s Office and, the following year, married the love of
   18  his life, Jennifer Murphy White, and
   19         WHEREAS, David Adam White took a leave of absence from the
   20  Clay County Sheriff’s Office to serve as a military policeman
   21  during the initial stages of the Iraq War during Operations
   22  Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, and
   23         WHEREAS, during his service in Iraq and Kuwait from May
   24  2003 to June 2004, David Adam White received a series of medals
   25  and ribbons, including the War on Terrorism Service Medal and a
   26  Sharpshooter badge for proficiency in the use of rifles and
   27  grenades, leaving the reserves as a corporal, and
   28         WHEREAS, upon his return to civilian life, David Adam White
   29  rejoined the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, where he worked with
   30  distinction in positions including patrol and investigations,
   31  most recently serving in the narcotics section, and
   32         WHEREAS, in August 2011, David Adam White was named Deputy
   33  of the Month in the Clay County Sheriff’s Office Operations
   34  Bureau for his work investigating an Orange Park pain-management
   35  clinic, which resulted in a series of arrests and the seizure of
   36  hundreds of thousands of dollars, and
   37         WHEREAS, on February 16, 2012, David Adam White and eight
   38  fellow deputies from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office initiated
   39  a drug raid at a vacant home in Middleburg which was believed to
   40  be used by drug dealers as a methamphetamine lab, and
   41         WHEREAS, during the course of that drug raid, David Adam
   42  White was fatally shot, dying en route to a local hospital, and
   43         WHEREAS, David Adam White was a devoted husband, father,
   44  and friend and his death is mourned by all who knew him, and
   45         WHEREAS, all Floridians owe a debt of gratitude to David
   46  Adam White and all other fallen law enforcement officers who
   47  have died in the line of duty, NOW, THEREFORE,
   48  
   49  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
   50  
   51         That members of the Senate remember the life of David Adam
   52  White and express our deepest sympathy to his wife, Jennifer, to
   53  his adoring mother and father, Sandy and David, to his beloved
   54  sister, Rachel, and to his many friends and colleagues.
   55         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution, with
   56  the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to Jennifer Murphy
   57  White so that she may one day share it with the precious
   58  daughter and son that David Adam White left behind as a tangible
   59  token of the sentiments of the Florida Senate.
