Florida Senate - 2012 (Corrected Copy) SR 2144 By Senators Jones, Latvala, and Fasano 13-03860C-12 20122144__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution recognizing Commissioner John Morroni for 3 his outstanding service as a member of the Pinellas 4 County Board of County Commissioners and for his 5 commitment to public service. 6 7 WHEREAS, John Morroni was born on February 16, 1955, in 8 Chicago, Illinois, went on to graduate from Loyola University 9 with a bachelor of arts degree in history, and moved to Florida 10 in 1980, and 11 WHEREAS, John Morroni was elected to the Florida House of 12 Representatives in 1992, where he served for 8 years, and was 13 elected to the Pinellas County Commission in 2000, where he 14 currently serves as chairperson, and 15 WHEREAS, a Realtor by profession, John Morroni serves on or 16 is a member of the Health and Human Services Coordinating 17 Council, the Area Agency on Aging of Pasco-Pinellas, Inc., the 18 Florida Association of Counties, the Historic Preservation 19 Advisory Board, and the Pinellas County Planning Council, where 20 he serves as treasurer, and 21 WHEREAS, John Morroni is the recipient of numerous honors 22 and awards, including the F.A.S.T. Appreciation Award for 23 supporting affordable housing for the people of Pinellas County, 24 the Fraternal Order of Police, Pinellas Lodge 43 “Lawman of the 25 Year” Award, the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) 26 “Iris” Award, and the Disabled American Veterans Commanders Club 27 “Bronze Leader” Award, and 28 WHEREAS, on January 27, 2012, John Morroni hosted his 17th 29 annual appreciation dinner for law enforcement officers, 30 firefighters, EMS providers, and members of the crisis 31 intervention team, which, to date, has raised more than $250,000 32 for charitable causes, NOW, THEREFORE, 33 34 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 35 36 That Commissioner John Morroni is recognized for his 37 outstanding service as a member of the Pinellas County Board of 38 County Commissioners and for his commitment to public service.
