A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to college credit for military
3training and education courses; creating s. 1004.096,
4F.S.; requiring the Board of Governors of the State
5University System and the State Board of Education to
6adopt regulations and rules, respectively, that enable
7United States Armed Forces servicemembers to earn
8college credit for college-level training and
9education acquired in the military; providing an
10effective date.

12Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

14     Section 1.  Section 1004.096, Florida Statutes, is created
15to read:
16     1004.096  College credit for military training and
17education courses.-The Board of Governors shall adopt
18regulations and the State Board of Education shall adopt rules
19that enable eligible members of the United States Armed Forces
20to earn academic college credit at public postsecondary
21educational institutions for college-level training and
22education acquired in the military. The regulations and rules
23shall include procedures for credential evaluation and the award
24of academic college credit, including, but not limited to,
25equivalency and alignment of military coursework with
26appropriate college courses, course descriptions, type and
27amount of college credit that may be awarded, and transfer of
28credit.
29     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2012.
