Paragraph (aaaa) is added to subsection (4) of 6 section 320.08056, Florida Statutes, to read: 7 320.08056 Specialty license plates.— 8 (4) The following license plate annual use fees shall be 9 collected for the appropriate specialty license plates: 10 (aaaa) American Legion license plate, $25. 11 Section 2. Subsection (79) is added to section 320.08058, 12 Florida Statutes, to read: 13 320.08058 Specialty license plates.— 14 (79) AMERICAN LEGION LICENSE PLATES.— 15 (a) The department shall develop an American Legion license 16 plate as provided in this section. The plate must bear the 17 colors and design approved by the department and must 18 incorporate the official American Legion emblem adopted in 1919. 19 The word “Florida” must appear at the top of the plate and the 20 words “American Legion” must appear at the bottom of the plate. 21 (b) Proceeds from the annual use fees shall be distributed 22 to the American Legion, Department of Florida, which shall 23 retain all revenues from the sale of the plates until all 24 startup costs for developing and issuing the plates have been 25 recovered. Thereafter, 60 percent of the proceeds shall be 26 distributed to the American Legion, Department of Florida, and 27 used to support Boys State in Florida, the Veteran Affairs and 28 Rehabilitation program, the Gilchrist Endowment Fund, and for 29 administration and marketing the plate. Twenty percent of the 30 proceeds shall be distributed to the direct-support organization 31 created under s. 292.055, under the Department of Veterans’ 32 Affairs, and 20 percent shall be distributed to the direct 33 support organization created under s. 250.115, under the 34 Department of Military Affairs.
