Section: 03 EXPLANATION:
On Page: 065 This amendment deletes proviso authorizing community
forensic beds in the 2nd and 13th judicial circuits
Spec App: 345 and inserts new proviso allowing the Department of
Children and Families to specify where new beds are
located.

In Section 03, on Page 65, DELETE the following:
From the funds in Specific Appropriation 345, $706,640 from the
General Revenue Fund is provided to contract with a not-for-profit
mental health facility in the Second Judicial Circuit that is currently
under contract with the department and has the capacity for placement of
16 forensic Residential Level 1 beds requiring placement within a
Chapter 394 or 395, Florida Statutes, licensed facility as an
alternative to more costly institutional placement.
From the funds in Specific Appropriation 345, $883,300 from the
General Revenue Fund is provided to contract with a not-for-profit

facility in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit currently under contract
with the department and has the capacity for placement of 20 forensic
Residential Level 1 beds as an alternative to more costly institutional
placement. The funds shall only be utilized for operating expenses with
building and capital expenditures excluded.
In Section 03, on Page 65, INSERT the following:
From the funds in Specific Appropriations 345, $1,589,940 from the
General Revenue Fundis provided to allow the department to open 36
community forensic residential beds. The department shall prioritize
and allocate resources where the greatest need is and shall ensure
appropriate level of service for those individuals considered to be non
violent and can be cared for in a less restrictive setting under court
supervision.
