    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution recognizing the month of April as
    3         “Landscape Architecture Month” in Florida.
    4  
    5         WHEREAS, the profession of landscape architecture is
    6  regulated by all 50 states on the basis of its recognized
    7  significance in protecting the public health, safety, and
    8  welfare, and
    9         WHEREAS, landscape architects have made valuable and
   10  important contributions to this state through the skillful and
   11  artful creation of safe, functional, accessible, secure, and
   12  aesthetically pleasing public and private places, and
   13         WHEREAS, the profession of landscape architecture
   14  significantly enriches the quality of life enjoyed by Floridians
   15  and visitors to this great state, and
   16         WHEREAS, through thoughtful planning and design and careful
   17  stewardship of land and water resources, landscape architects
   18  serve to preserve, protect, and conserve this state’s scenic
   19  beauty, unique and fragile ecosystems, and abundant natural
   20  resources, and
   21         WHEREAS, the profession of landscape architecture fosters
   22  and promotes economically and ecologically sustainable
   23  development of this state’s land and water resources for our
   24  present enjoyment while ensuring future generations the same
   25  opportunity, and
   26         WHEREAS, the profession of landscape architecture
   27  encompasses the analysis, planning, design, management, and
   28  stewardship of natural and built environments through a broad
   29  and diverse spectrum of projects including urban design;
   30  streetscapes and public spaces; transportation corridors and
   31  facilities; security design; greenways, parks and recreation;
   32  monuments; historic preservation and restoration; residential;
   33  hospitality and resorts; corporate and commercial;
   34  institutional; academic campuses; conservation; reclamation;
   35  landscape art and earth sculpture; gardens and arboreta; and
   36  interior landscapes, and
   37         WHEREAS, excellence in the practice of the profession is
   38  promoted through graduate and undergraduate programs in
   39  landscape architecture offered through the State University
   40  System and regulated by the Department of Business and
   41  Professional Regulation and the State Board of Landscape
   42  Architecture, and
   43         WHEREAS, the profession of landscape architecture serves a
   44  unique and vital role in the development of green industries in
   45  this state, which contribute tens of billions of dollars
   46  annually to Florida’s economy, NOW, THEREFORE,
   47  
   48  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
   49  
   50         That the month of April is recognized as “Landscape
   51  Architecture Month” in Florida.
