Floor: WD/2R . 05/01/2013 04:00 PM . ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— Senators Latvala, Montford, and Evers moved the following: 1 Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 2 3 Delete lines 2742 - 2814 4 and insert: 5 (1) Triumph Gulf Coast, Inc., shall make awards from 6 available earnings and principal derived under s. 288.82(2)(a) 7 to projects or programs that meet the priorities for economic 8 recovery, diversification, and enhancement of the 9 disproportionately affected counties, notwithstanding s. 377.43. 10 Awards may be provided for: 11 (a) Ad valorem tax reduction within disproportionately 12 affected counties; 13 (b) Payment of impact fees adopted pursuant to s. 163.31801 14 and imposed within disproportionately affected counties; 15 (c) Administrative funding for economic development 16 organizations located within the disproportionately affected 17 counties; 18 (d) Local match requirements of ss. 288.0655, 288.0659, 19 288.1045, and 288.106 for projects in the disproportionately 20 affected counties; 21 (e) Economic development projects in the disproportionately 22 affected counties; 23 (f) Infrastructure projects that are shown to enhance 24 economic development in the disproportionately affected 25 counties; 26 (g) Grants to local governments in the disproportionately 27 affected counties to establish and maintain equipment and 28 trained personnel for local action plans of response to respond 29 to disasters, such as plans created for the Coastal Impacts 30 Assistance Program; 31 (h) Grants to support programs of excellence that prepare 32 students for future occupations and careers at K-20 institutions 33 that have home campuses in the disproportionately affected 34 counties. Eligible programs include those that increase 35 students’ technology skills and knowledge; encourage industry 36 certifications; provide rigorous, alternative pathways for 37 students to meet high school graduation requirements; strengthen 38 career readiness initiatives; fund high-demand programs of 39 emphasis at the bachelor’s and master’s level designated by the 40 Board of Governors; and, similar to or the same as talent 41 retention programs created by the Chancellor of the State 42 University System and the Commission of Education, encourage 43 students with interest or aptitude for science, technology, 44 engineering, mathematics, and medical disciplines to pursue 45 postsecondary education at a state university within the 46 disproportionately affected counties; and 47 (i) Grants to the tourism entity created under s. 288.1226 48 for the purpose of advertising and promoting tourism, Fresh From 49 Florida, or related content on behalf of one or all of the 50 disproportionately affected counties. 51 52 ================= T I T L E A M E N D M E N T ================ 53 And the title is amended as follows: 54 Delete lines 340 - 341 55 and insert: 56 principal; providing the award categories; providing 57 the award categories for certain funds;
