Florida Senate - 2013 SB 1092 By Senator Thompson 12-01479-13 20131092__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to charter schools; amending s. 3 1002.33, F.S.; requiring a charter school to submit to 4 the school district an attendance plan for each 5 student enrolled in the school; requiring a charter 6 school to provide funding to a school district in the 7 event of student transfers; requiring a charter school 8 to report to the school district certain student 9 enrollment information; providing an effective date. 10 11 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 12 13 Section 1. Paragraph (o) is added to subsection (9) of 14 section 1002.33, Florida Statutes, to read: 15 1002.33 Charter schools.— 16 (9) CHARTER SCHOOL REQUIREMENTS.— 17 (o)1. For each student attending a charter school, the 18 charter school shall submit to the school district, within 30 19 days after the student’s enrollment, a written plan developed by 20 the student’s parent, a charter school administrator, and a 21 school district administrator which specifies the public school 22 and grade level that the student would likely attend if the 23 charter school closes or the student withdraws before the last 24 day of the school year. 25 2. If a student transfers for any reason from a charter 26 school to another public school in the school district before 27 the last day of the school year, the charter school shall 28 provide to the school district a prorated portion of the per 29 student funding allocated to the charter school for that student 30 based on the amount of time that the student is enrolled in the 31 charter school and the public school to which the student 32 transferred. 33 3. A charter school shall report to the school district, 34 within 15 days after the last day of the school year, a roster 35 of the students who attended the school at any time during the 36 school year, the duration of their enrollment, and, if a student 37 has withdrawn from the school, the reason for withdrawal 38 attested to by the parent. 39 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2013.
