The Committee on Community Affairs (Simpson) recommended the
following:
1 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)

3 Delete everything after the enacting clause
4 and insert:
5 Section 1. Subsection (16) is added to section 633.0215,
6 Florida Statutes, to read:
7 633.0215 Florida Fire Prevention Code.—
8 (16)(a) Fire flow requirements may be decreased by the
9 authority that has jurisdiction for isolated buildings or a
10 group of buildings in rural areas or small communities, as
11 defined in the Florida Fire Prevention Code, if that authority
12 determines that the development of full fire flow requirements
13 is impractical.
14 (b) A business located in a one-story or two-story building
15 that is less than 10,000 square feet is exempt from any 2-hour
16 or longer fire-rated wall requirement and any fire sprinkler
17 requirement in the Florida Fire Prevention Code, including the
18 national codes incorporated by reference.
19 (c) A farming or ranching operation that employs fewer than
20 25 full-time employees and that is not used by the public for
21 direct sales or as an educational outreach facility is exempt
22 from the Florida Fire Prevention Code, including the national
23 codes and Life Safety Code incorporated by reference.
24 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2013.

30 A bill to be entitled
31 An act relating to the Florida Fire Prevention Code;
32 amending s. 633.0215, F.S.; authorizing certain
33 authorities to decrease minimum fire flow requirements
34 for certain buildings if the requirements are
35 impractical; exempting certain businesses from a 2
36 hour or longer fire-rated wall requirement and fire
37 sprinkler requirement in the code; exempting certain
38 farming or ranching operations from the code;
39 providing an effective date.
