       The Committee on Children, Families, and Elder Affairs (Sobel)
       recommended the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment to Amendment (819690) 
    2  
    3         Delete lines 106 - 110
    4  and insert:
    5         (b) The state ombudsman shall be appointed by and shall
    6  serve at the pleasure of the Secretary of Elderly Affairs from a
    7  list of names submitted by the State Ombudsman Council.
    8  Candidates must The secretary shall appoint a person who has
    9  have expertise and experience in the fields of long-term care
   10  and advocacy to serve as state ombudsman. The Secretary may
   11  remove the State Ombudsman only after consulting with the State
   12  Ombudsman Council and after a vote of two-thirds of all state
   13  council members is attained.
