Section 192.048, Florida Statutes, is created to 6 read: 7 192.048 Electronic transmission.— 8 (1) Subject to subsection (2), the following documents may 9 be transmitted electronically rather than by regular mail: 10 (a) The notice of proposed property taxes required under s. 11 200.069. 12 (b) The tax exemption renewal application required under s. 13 196.011(6)(a). 14 (c) The tax exemption renewal application required under s. 15 196.011(6)(b). 16 (d) A notification of intent to deny a tax exemption 17 required under s. 196.011(9)(e). 18 (e) The decision of the value adjustment board required 19 under s. 194.034(2). 20 (2) Electronic transmission pursuant to this section is 21 allowed subject to the following conditions: 22 (a) The recipient consents in writing to receiving the 23 document electronically. 24 (b) On the form used to obtain the recipient’s written 25 consent, the sender includes a statement in substantially the 26 following form and in a font size equal to or greater than the 27 size used for the text requesting the recipient’s consent: 28 “Notice: Under Florida law, e-mail addresses are public records. 29 By consenting to communicate with this office electronically, 30 your e-mail address will be released in response to any 31 applicable public records request.” 32 (c) Before sending a document, the sender verifies the 33 recipient’s address by sending an electronic transmission to the 34 recipient and receiving an affirmative response from the 35 recipient verifying that the recipient’s address is correct. 36 (d) If a document is returned as undeliverable, the sender 37 sends the document by regular mail, as required by law. 38 (e) Documents sent pursuant to this section comply with the 39 same timing and form requirements as if the documents were sent 40 by regular mail. 41 (f) The sender renews the consent and verification 42 requirements every 5 years. 43 44 ================= T I T L E A M E N D M E N T ================ 45 And the title is amended as follows: 46 Delete lines 17 - 27 47 and insert: 48 creating s. 192.048, F.S.; allowing certain 49 communications relating to property taxes to be sent 50 electronically in lieu of regular mail; providing 51 requirements and conditions applicable to such 52 electronic communications; providing an
