       Senator Simmons moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment 
    2  
    3         Delete lines 740 - 777
    4  and insert:
    5         (10)(9)A “Fire hydrant” means is a connection to a water
    6  main, elevated water tank, or other source of water for the
    7  purpose of supplying water to a fire hose or other fire
    8  protection apparatus for fire suppression operations. The term
    9  does not include a fire protection system.
   10         (11)(10)A “Fire protection system” means is a system
   11  individually designed to protect the interior or exterior of a
   12  specific building or buildings, structure, or other special
   13  hazard from fire. Such systems include, but are not limited to,
   14  water sprinkler systems, water spray systems, foam-water
   15  sprinkler systems, foam-water spray systems, carbon dioxide CO2
   16  systems, foam extinguishing systems, dry chemical systems, and
   17  Halon and other chemical systems used for fire protection use.
   18  Such systems also include any overhead and underground fire
   19  mains, fire hydrants and hydrant mains, standpipes and hoses
   20  connected to sprinkler systems, sprinkler tank heaters, air
   21  lines, thermal systems used in connection with fire sprinkler
   22  systems, and tanks and pumps connected to fire sprinkler
   23  systems.
   24         (12)(11)A “Firesafety inspector” means is an individual
   25  who holds a current and valid Fire Safety Inspector Certificate
   26  of Compliance issued certified by the division State Fire
   27  Marshal under s. 633.216 s. 633.081 who is officially assigned
   28  the duties of conducting firesafety inspections of buildings and
   29  facilities on a recurring or regular basis on behalf of the
   30  state or any county, municipality, or special district with fire
   31  safety responsibilities.
   32         (13) “Fire service provider” means a municipality or
   33  county, the state, or any political subdivision of the state,
   34  including authorities and special districts, employing
   35  firefighters or utilizing volunteer firefighters to provide fire
   36  extinguishment or fire prevention services for the protection of
   37  life and property. The term includes any organization under
   38  contract or other agreement with such entity to provide such
   39  services.
   40         (14) “Fire service support personnel” means an individual
   41  who does not hold a current and valid certificate issued by the
   42  division and who may only perform support services.
