       Senator Brandes moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Between lines 1426 and 1427
    4  insert:
    5         Section 29. Subsection (4) of section 320.089, Florida
    6  Statutes, is amended to read:
    7         320.089 Members of National Guard and active United States
    8  Armed Forces reservists; former prisoners of war; survivors of
    9  Pearl Harbor; Purple Heart medal recipients; Operation Desert
   10  Storm Veterans; Operation Desert Shield Veterans; Operation
   11  Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom Veterans; Combat
   12  Infantry Badge or Combat Action Badge recipients; Vietnam War
   13  Veterans; Korean Conflict Veterans; special license plates;
   14  fee.—
   15         (4) The owner or lessee of an automobile or truck for
   16  private use, a truck weighing not more than 7,999 pounds, or a
   17  recreational vehicle as specified in s. 320.08(9)(c) or (d)
   18  which automobile, truck, or recreational vehicle is not used for
   19  hire or commercial use who is a resident of the state and a
   20  current or former member of the United States military who was
   21  deployed and served in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, or another area of
   22  the Persian Gulf During Operation Desert Storm or Operation
   23  Desert Shield, in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom or in
   24  Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom shall, upon
   25  application to the department, accompanied by proof of active
   26  membership or former active duty status during one of these
   27  operations, and upon payment of the license tax for the vehicle
   28  as provided in s. 320.08, be issued a license plate as provided
   29  by s. 320.06 upon which, in lieu of the registration license
   30  number prescribed by s. 320.06, shall be stamped the words
   31  “Operation Desert Storm,” Operation Desert Shield,” “Operation
   32  Iraqi Freedom” or “Operation Enduring Freedom,” as appropriate,
   33  followed by the registration license number of the plate.
