ENROLLED 2013 Legislature CS for CS for SB 160 2013160er 1 2 An act relating to licensure fee exemptions for 3 military veterans; amending s. 456.013, F.S.; 4 requiring that the Department of Health waive certain 5 licensure fees for veterans; requiring the department 6 to prescribe the format of the fee waivers; limiting 7 the time period a veteran can apply to 24 months after 8 honorable discharge; amending s. 468.304, F.S.; 9 requiring that the department waive the initial 10 application fee for veterans who apply for a 11 radiological personnel certification; requiring the 12 department to prescribe the form of the fee waiver; 13 limiting the time period a veteran can apply to 24 14 months after honorable discharge; excluding a specific 15 fee from the waiver; providing an effective date. 16 17 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 18 19 Section 1. Subsection (13) is added to section 456.013, 20 Florida Statutes, to read: 21 456.013 Department; general licensing provisions.— 22 (13) The department shall waive the initial licensing fee, 23 the initial application fee, and the initial unlicensed activity 24 fee for a military veteran who applies to the department for an 25 initial license within 24 months after being honorably 26 discharged from any branch of the United States Armed Forces. 27 The applicant must apply for the fee waiver using a form 28 prescribed by the department and must submit supporting 29 documentation as required by the department. 30 Section 2. Subsection (1) of section 468.304, Florida 31 Statutes, is amended to read: 32 468.304 Certification.—The department shall certify any 33 applicant who meets the following criteria: 34 (1) Pays to the department a nonrefundable fee that may not 35 exceed $100, plus the actual per-applicant cost to the 36 department for purchasing the examination from a national 37 organization. The department shall waive the initial application 38 fee for a military veteran who applies to the department for an 39 initial certification within 24 months after being honorably 40 discharged from any branch of the United States Armed Forces. 41 The applicant must apply for the fee waiver using a form 42 prescribed by the department and must submit supporting 43 documentation as required by the department. This waiver does 44 not include the fee for purchasing the examination from a 45 national organization. 46 47 The department may not certify any applicant who has committed 48 an offense that would constitute a violation of any of the 49 provisions of s. 468.3101 or applicable rules if the applicant 50 had been certified by the department at the time of the offense. 51 An application for a limited computed tomography certificate may 52 not be accepted. A person holding a valid computed tomography 53 certificate as of October 1, 1984, is subject to s. 468.309. 54 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2013.
