Florida Senate - 2013 CS for SB 1650 By the Committee on Children, Families, and Elder Affairs; and Senator Gibson 586-03353-13 20131650c1 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to child care facilities; amending s. 3 402.305, F.S.; requiring licensed child care 4 facilities to implement certain additional nutritional 5 practices; providing an effective date. 6 7 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 8 9 Section 1. Subsection (8) of section 402.305, Florida 10 Statutes, is amended to read: 11 402.305 Licensing standards; child care facilities.— 12 (8) NUTRITIONAL PRACTICES.—Minimum standards shall include 13 requirements for the provision of meals or snacks of a quality 14 and quantity to assure that the nutritional needs of the child 15 are met. Such standards shall include at least the following 16 requirements: 17 (a) Only 1 percent milk or nonfat milk shall be served to 18 children 2 years of age or older unless otherwise ordered by a 19 physician or health practitioner. 20 (b) One hundred percent fruit juice shall be limited to no 21 more than one serving per day. 22 (c) A beverage with added sweeteners, natural or 23 artificial, may not be served. 24 (d) Clean and safe drinking water must be readily available 25 and accessible throughout the day. 26 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2013.
