1 Senate Resolution
2 A resolution recognizing March 11, 2013, as “World
3 Plumbing Day” in Florida.

5 WHEREAS, World Plumbing Day was founded on March 11, 2010,
6 as a way to highlight the important role played by the plumbing
7 industry and today’s plumbing professionals, and
8 WHEREAS, the World Plumbing Council and the International
9 Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials are in the
10 forefront of protecting the health and safety of the nation and
11 the world through the use of the Uniform Plumbing and Mechanical
12 Codes developed by licensed, trained professionals, and
13 WHEREAS, many who live in industrialized and developed
14 countries take for granted the ability to obtain clean water
15 quickly and easily from a tap or faucet and do not fully
16 appreciate the convenience of having access to flushing toilets,
17 and
18 WHEREAS, in developing countries, plumbing is either
19 nonexistent or very basic and leads to the development of
20 serious health concerns, and
21 WHEREAS, millions of people die each year due to lack of
22 access to clean drinking water and living in unsanitary
23 conditions, and
24 WHEREAS, according to the World Health Organization, 1.1
25 billion people around the globe do not have access to safe water
26 supplies, 2.6 billion do not have access to healthy sanitation
27 systems, and 3.1 million children die annually as a result of
28 water-related diseases, and
29 WHEREAS, on March 11, 2013, industry representatives from
30 across the globe will gather to bring attention to the important
31 role plumbing professionals play in society, NOW, THEREFORE,

33 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

35 That we recognize March 11, 2013, as “World Plumbing Day”
36 in Florida.
