Florida Senate - 2013 (NP) SR 1798 By Senator Joyner 19-02635-13 20131798__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution recognizing the YWCA of Tampa Bay, Inc., 3 for its pioneering efforts in race relations and the 4 empowerment of women. 5 6 WHEREAS, the YWCA of Tampa Bay, Inc., has a long history of 7 fighting against racial injustice and for the empowerment of 8 women, and 9 WHEREAS, under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer 10 Lenice C. Emanuel, the YWCA of Tampa Bay, Inc., has achieved an 11 impressive record of service to the community and has been a 12 consistent and effective advocate for the cause of equality in 13 employment, education, health care, housing, and human services, 14 and 15 WHEREAS, on April 26, 2013, the YWCA of Tampa Bay, Inc., 16 will host the 5th Annual “Stand Against Racism,” joining more 17 than 2,000 organizations nationwide in promoting activities 18 designed to raise awareness of this ongoing issue, and 19 WHEREAS, the strength, security, and success of this great 20 state depend in great measure on the work of organizations like 21 the YWCA of Tampa Bay, Inc., which work tirelessly to improve 22 the quality of life of all Floridians, NOW, THEREFORE, 23 24 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 25 26 That we recognize the YWCA of Tampa Bay, Inc., for its 27 pioneering efforts in race relations and the empowerment of 28 women. 29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be 30 presented to the YWCA of Tampa Bay, Inc., Chief Executive 31 Officer Lenice C. Emanuel as a tangible token of the sentiments 32 expressed in this resolution.
