Florida Senate - 2013 (NP) SR 1930 By Senator Ring 29-05895-13 20131930__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution recognizing the plight of Robert Levinson 3 and encouraging his swift and safe return to his 4 family. 5 6 WHEREAS, Robert Levinson was kidnapped in Iran on March 8, 7 2007, while working as a private citizen, and 8 WHEREAS, Robert Levinson rendered valuable public service 9 to this nation before his retirement, serving as a special agent 10 with the Federal Bureau of Investigation for 22 years and with 11 the United States Drug Enforcement Administration for 6 years, 12 and 13 WHEREAS, Robert Levinson has been held captive in Iran for 14 almost 6 years, making his captivity one of the longest in 15 American history, and 16 WHEREAS, citizens of this great nation have worked 17 tirelessly to acquire over 25,000 signatures on behalf of Robert 18 Levinson to ensure that the Federal Government utilize all of 19 its diplomatic resources to secure his release and safe return 20 to his family in Coral Springs, Florida, and 21 WHEREAS, Robert Levinson’s personal health has deteriorated 22 in captivity due to his diabetic condition and the lack of 23 access to proper medication to control that condition, likely 24 diminishing his ability to survive, NOW, THEREFORE, 25 26 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 27 28 That we recognize the plight of Robert Levinson and 29 encourage his swift and safe return to his family.
