Florida Senate - 2013 SJR 254 By Senator Clemens 27-00250A-13 2013254__ 1 Senate Joint Resolution 2 A joint resolution proposing an amendment to Section 1 3 of Article XI of the State Constitution to limit the 4 number of amendments to the State Constitution that 5 the Legislature may submit to the electorate at the 6 same election to three; providing an effective date. 7 8 Be It Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 9 10 That the following amendment to Section 1 of Article XI of 11 the State Constitution is agreed to and shall be submitted to 12 the electors of this state for approval or rejection at the next 13 general election or at an earlier special election specifically 14 authorized by law for that purpose: 15 16 ARTICLE XI 17 AMENDMENTS 18 19 SECTION 1. Proposal by legislature.—Amendment of a section 20 or revision of one or more articles, or the whole, of this 21 constitution may be proposed by joint resolution agreed to by 22 three-fifths of the membership of each house of the legislature. 23 The full text of the joint resolution and the vote of each 24 member voting shall be entered on the journal of each house. The 25 legislature may submit to the electorate no more than three 26 proposed amendments to the state constitution in any one 27 election. 28 29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the following statement be 30 placed on the ballot: 31 32 CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 33 ARTICLE XI, SECTION 1 34 35 LIMITING NUMBER OF AMENDMENTS TO STATE CONSTITUTION 36 SUBMITTED BY LEGISLATURE TO ELECTORATE.—Proposing an amendment 37 to the State Constitution to limit the number of amendments the 38 Legislature may submit to the electorate at any one election to 39 three. This act shall take effect January 1, 2014.
