Florida Senate - 2013 (NP) SR 340 By Senator Thompson 12-00583-13 2013340__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution celebrating the life of Mother Carrie Mae 3 Muse Lawson. 4 5 WHEREAS, Carrie Mae Muse was born on September 27, 1928, to 6 the late Lucille Ray Muse and Ed Muse in Midway, and 7 WHEREAS, Carrie May Muse graduated from Midway High School 8 and went on to attend Florida Agricultural and Mechanical 9 University, where she received technical training in the 10 culinary arts, and 11 WHEREAS, Carrie Mae Muse met and married the love of her 12 life, Alfred J. Lawson, Sr., and, together, they raised six 13 children in a home that emphasized the importance of family, 14 community, and education, and 15 WHEREAS, after her conversion at an early age at the St. 16 Luke Primitive Baptist Church in Midway, Carrie Mae Muse Lawson 17 continually pursued a deeper knowledge of scripture, joining St. 18 John Primitive Baptist Church, where she served on the Mother’s 19 Board and was president of the junior choir and, later, the 20 Midway Church of God in Christ, and 21 WHEREAS, Carrie Mae Muse Lawson is remembered as “The 22 Songbird” at the Midway Church of God in Christ, where she 23 served on the Mother’s and Missionary Boards, sang in the E.L. 24 Sheppard Memorial Choir, and served as the president of the 25 usher board for the Big Bend District, and 26 WHEREAS, Carrie Mae Muse Lawson was an avid civic worker, 27 serving as a poll worker in many elections and coordinating the 28 annual Midway Day Celebration, and 29 WHEREAS, Carrie Mae Muse Lawson was a proud and devoted 30 mother and grandmother and is survived by her daughters, Sandra 31 Lawson, Verla Lawson-Grady, and Angela Martin; her sons, Alfred, 32 Arthur, and Kelvin Lawson; and 11 grandchildren, NOW, THEREFORE, 33 34 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 35 36 That we celebrate the life well lived of Carrie Mae Muse 37 Lawson and extend our deepest sympathy to her beloved family and 38 host of friends.
