       The Committee on Criminal Justice (Evers) recommended the
       following:
       
    1         Senate Substitute for Amendment (803982) (with title
    2  amendment)
    3  
    4         Between lines 42 and 43
    5  insert:
    6         Section 2. Subsection (1) of section 817.312, Florida
    7  Statutes, is amended to read:
    8         817.312 Unlawful use of uniforms, medals, or insignia.—
    9  (1) A person may not misrepresent himself or herself as a member
   10  or veteran of the United States Air Force, United States Army,
   11  United States Coast Guard, United States Marine Corps, United
   12  States Navy, or National Guard or and wear the uniform of or any
   13  medal or insignia authorized for use by members or veterans of
   14  the United States Air Force, United States Army, United States
   15  Coast Guard, United States Marine Corps, United States Navy, or
   16  the National Guard which he or she is not authorized to wear
   17  while soliciting for charitable contributions or for the purpose
   18  of material gain. This section does not prohibit persons in the
   19  theatrical profession from wearing such uniforms, medals, or
   20  insignia while actually engaged in such profession.

   23         And the title is amended as follows:
   24         Delete line 11
   25  and insert:
   26         penalties; amending s. 817.312, F.S.; prohibiting
   27         misrepresentation as a service member or veteran and
   28         wearing military or veterans' uniform, medal, or
   29         insignia; providing an effective date.
