2 An act relating to memory disorder clinics; amending
3 s. 430.502, F.S.; revising provisions for the
4 establishment of memory disorder clinics in the state;
5 providing an effective date.

7 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

9 Section 1. Subsection (1) of section 430.502, Florida
10 Statutes, is amended to read:
11 430.502 Alzheimer’s disease; memory disorder clinics and
12 day care and respite care programs.—
13 (1) The following memory disorder clinics are There is
14 established for the purpose of conducting research and training
15 in a diagnostic and therapeutic setting for persons suffering
16 from Alzheimer’s disease and related memory disorders:
17 (a) A memory disorder clinic at each of the three medical
18 schools in this state.;
19 (b) A memory disorder clinic at a major private nonprofit
20 research-oriented teaching hospital, and the Legislature may
21 fund a memory disorder clinic at any of the other affiliated
22 teaching hospitals.;
23 (c) A memory disorder clinic at the Mayo Clinic in
24 Jacksonville.;
25 (d) A memory disorder clinic at the West Florida Regional
26 Medical Center.;
27 (e) A The memory disorder clinic operated by Health First,
28 Inc., operating in Brevard County.;
29 (f) A memory disorder clinic at the Orlando Regional
30 Healthcare System, Inc.;
31 (g) A memory disorder center located in a public hospital
32 that is operated by an independent special hospital taxing
33 district that governs multiple hospitals and is located in a
34 county with a population greater than 800,000 persons.;
35 (h) A memory disorder clinic at St. Mary’s Medical Center
36 in Palm Beach County.;
37 (i) A memory disorder clinic at Tallahassee Memorial
38 Healthcare.;
39 (j) A memory disorder clinic at Lee Memorial Hospital
40 created by chapter 63-1552, Laws of Florida, as amended.;
41 (k) A memory disorder clinic at Sarasota Memorial Hospital
42 in Sarasota County.;
43 (l) A memory disorder clinic at Morton Plant Hospital,
44 Clearwater, in Pinellas County.; and
45 (m) A memory disorder clinic at Florida Atlantic
46 University, Boca Raton, in Palm Beach County.,

48 for the purpose of conducting research and training in a
49 diagnostic and therapeutic setting for persons suffering from
50 Alzheimer’s disease and related memory disorders. However,
51 memory disorder clinics funded as of June 30, 1995, may shall
52 not receive decreased funding due solely to subsequent additions
53 of memory disorder clinics in this subsection.
54 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2013.
