       The Committee on Appropriations (Sobel) recommended the
       following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Delete lines 230 - 244
    4  and insert:
    5         (f) The school district shall verify at least 60 percent of
    6  the signatures on the petition using existing student enrollment
    7  documentation or other records containing parent signatures. A
    8  school district may not reject a parent’s signature on a
    9  petition based on a lack of conformity to signatures in school
   10  records if the parent’s identity and signature can be easily
   11  validated with a photographic identification or a notarized
   12  signature verifying the identity of the signer, or by the
   13  personal knowledge of a school employee. The school district is
   14  not required to verify notarized signatures, and signatures
   15  verified outside an established verification period are valid.
   16         (g) For a petition to be valid, it must bear the dated
   17  signatures of at least 60 percent of the parents of eligible
   18  students. Only one
