       Appropriations Subcommittee on Education (Simmons) recommended
       the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment to Amendment (766560) (with title
    2  amendment)
    3  
    4         Delete lines 202 - 206
    5  and insert:
    6         (b) Upon receiving the school district’s adopted turnaround
    7  plan, the state board shall consider the turnaround option
    8  selected by the district school board, the turnaround option
    9  selected by parents, and each of the other options specified in
   10  s. 1008.33(4)(b).
   11         1. If the state board determines that the turnaround option
   12  selected by parents is more likely to improve the academic
   13  performance of students at the school, the district school board
   14  shall submit to the state board an implementation plan for the
   15  turnaround option selected by parents.
   16         2. If the state board determines that the turnaround option
   17  selected by the district school board or another available
   18  option is more likely to improve the academic performance of the
   19  students at the school, the district school board shall adopt
   20  such plan as designated by the state board. The state board
   21  shall designate the plan submitted by the district school board
   22  unless the state board makes a final determination that another
   23  option is superior to the district school board’s plan.
