       Senator Gibson moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Between lines 2983 and 2984
    4  insert:
    5         Section 63. Present paragraphs (d) through (i) of
    6  subsection (4) of section 429.256, Florida Statutes, are
    7  redesignated as paragraphs (c) through (h), respectively, and
    8  subsection (3) and present paragraph (c) of subsection (4) of
    9  that section are amended, to read:
   10         429.256 Assistance with self-administration of medication.—
   11         (3) Assistance with self-administration of medication
   12  includes:
   13         (a) Taking the medication, in its previously dispensed,
   14  properly labeled container, including an insulin syringe that is
   15  prefilled with the proper dosage by a pharmacist and an insulin
   16  pen that is prefilled by the manufacturer, from where it is
   17  stored, and bringing it to the resident.
   18         (b) In the presence of the resident, reading the label,
   19  opening the container, removing a prescribed amount of
   20  medication from the container, and closing the container,
   21  including removing the cap of a nebulizer, opening the unit dose
   22  of nebulizer solution, and pouring the prescribed premeasured
   23  dose of medication into the dispensing cup of the nebulizer.
   24         (c) Placing an oral dosage in the resident’s hand or
   25  placing the dosage in another container and helping the resident
   26  by lifting the container to his or her mouth.
   27         (d) Applying topical medications.
   28         (e) Returning the medication container to proper storage.
   29         (f) Keeping a record of when a resident receives assistance
   30  with self-administration under this section.
   31         (g) Assisting with the use of a nebulizer.
   32         (h) Using a glucometer to perform blood-glucose level
   33  checks.
   34         (i) Assisting with putting on and taking off antiembolism
   35  stockings.
   36         (j) Assisting with applying and removing an oxygen cannula.
   37         (k) Assisting with the use of a continuous positive airway
   38  pressure device (CPAP).
   39         (l) Assisting with measuring vital signs.
   40         (m) Assisting with colostomy bags.
   41         (4) Assistance with self-administration does not include:
   42         (c) Administration of medications through intermittent
   43  positive pressure breathing machines or a nebulizer.

   48  and insert:
