       Senators Bean and Richter moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Substitute for Amendment (389834) (with title
    2  amendment)

    4         Between lines 3877 and 3878
    5  insert:
    6         Section 87. Children with hearing loss or hearing
    7  impairment; parents or guardians to be provided information.—
    8         (1) Any health care practitioner licensed under Part I of
    9  chapter 468, Florida Statutes, who makes the initial diagnosis
   10  of hearing loss or hearing impairment in a child shall provide,
   11  or the practitioner's designee shall provide, each parent or
   12  guardian of that child, with equal emphasis, current information
   13  about all communication modalities available to the child,
   14  therapeutic interventions related to hearing loss or hearing
   15  impairment, and relevant support and educational services. Such
   16  information must equally emphasize aural and non-aural methods
   17  for managing hearing loss and hearing impairment.
   18         (2) The Department of Health shall establish a
   19  clearinghouse of such information and shall make it available to
   20  the public on the Department of Health website by December 1,
   21  2013.

   24         And the title is amended as follows:
   25         Delete line 361
   26  and insert:
   27         development; requiring any practitioner licensed under
   28         Part I of ch. 468, F.S., who makes the initial
   29         diagnosis of hearing loss or hearing impairment in a
   30         child to provide each parent or guardian of that child
   31         with certain information; requiring such information
   32         to be compiled and published by the Department of
   33         Health; providing an effective date.
