Florida Senate - 2014 (NP) SR 1502 By Senator Garcia 38-01854-14 20141502__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution designating the week of April 7-13, 2014, 3 as “Health Information Technology Week” in Florida. 4 5 WHEREAS, health information technology and management 6 systems have been recognized as essential tools for improving 7 the quality of patient care, ensuring patient safety, 8 eliminating duplicative tests and paperwork, and reducing health 9 care costs, and 10 WHEREAS, health information technology connects physicians 11 and patients to more complete and accurate health records, and 12 WHEREAS, Florida has made a commitment to realizing the 13 benefits of health information technology, including supporting 14 the adoption of electronic health records that will help to 15 reduce costs and improve quality while ensuring the privacy of 16 patients, and 17 WHEREAS, aligning the use of electronic health records with 18 other reporting efforts is critical to improving clinical 19 outcomes for patients, controlling costs, and expanding access 20 to care through the use of technology, and 21 WHEREAS, Florida is proud to honor the commitment and 22 service of the clinicians, information technology executives, 23 directors, and managers who work in the state’s health care 24 provider institutions, payor organizations, military and other 25 branches of government, academic centers, and supplier and 26 consulting companies, and 27 WHEREAS, since 2006, organizations across the country have 28 united to support Health Information Technology Week and to 29 expand public awareness of the benefits of the implementation of 30 health information technology, NOW, THEREFORE, 31 32 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 33 34 That the week of April 7-13, 2014, is recognized as “Health 35 Information Technology Week” in Florida.
