Senator Diaz de la Portilla moved the following:

5 insert:
6 Section 55. The governing body of a municipality that
7 created a downtown development authority and was authorized to
8 levy an additional ad valorem tax under chapter 65-1090, Laws of
9 Florida, may continue to levy said additional ad valorem tax on
10 all real and personal property in the downtown district of up to
11 0.5 mill for the purpose of financing the operation of the
12 authority. The levy of the ad valorem tax shall be in addition
13 to regular ad valorem taxes and special assessments for
14 improvements imposed by the governing body of the municipality;
15 however, the combined levy may not exceed the maximum millage
16 authorized for municipal purposes under s. 9(b), Article VII of
17 the State Constitution.

22 and insert:
23 districts; authorizing certain municipalities to
24 continue levying an additional ad valorem tax to
25 finance the operation of a downtown development
26 authority; providing that the tax is in addition to
27 regular ad valorem taxes and assessments imposed by
28 the municipality; prohibiting the combined taxes and
29 assessments of the municipality from exceeding a
30 specified millage; amending ss. 11.45, 100.011,
31 101.657,
