Florida Senate - 2014 (NP) SR 1656 By Senator Smith 31-02238-14 20141656__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution recognizing March 23-29, 2014, as “Boys 3 and Girls Club Week” in Florida. 4 5 WHEREAS, the young people of this state are tomorrow’s 6 leaders, and 7 WHEREAS, many such young people need professional youth 8 services to help them reach their full potential, and 9 WHEREAS, there are 253 Boys and Girls Clubs in this state 10 providing services to more than 161,000 young people annually, 11 and 12 WHEREAS, Boys and Girls Clubs are places where great 13 futures begin and are at the forefront of mentoring, delinquency 14 prevention, anti-bullying, and financial literacy initiatives, 15 and 16 WHEREAS, the member organizations of the Florida Alliance 17 of Boys and Girls Clubs offer a safe harbor for young people, 18 providing them a safe and supportive place to go and providing 19 them with quality programs, and 20 WHEREAS, during the week of March 23-29, 2014, the Florida 21 Alliance of Boys and Girls Clubs will join some 4,000 clubs and 22 more than four million young people nationwide in celebrating 23 National Boys and Girls Club Week, NOW, THEREFORE, 24 25 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 26 27 That March 23-29, 2014, is recognized as “Boys and Girls 28 Club Week” in Florida.
