    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution commemorating the 50th anniversary of the
    3         Dade County Police Benevolent Association.
    4  
    5         WHEREAS, the Dade County Police Benevolent Association was
    6  incorporated in December 1963 to protect the rights of law
    7  enforcement personnel and promote professionalism, and
    8         WHEREAS, the Dade County Police Benevolent Association is
    9  the largest police organization in Miami-Dade County, with more
   10  than 6,500 law enforcement officers, and
   11         WHEREAS, the Dade County Police Benevolent Association
   12  provides a wealth of benefits for its members, including union
   13  type services such as collective bargaining and labor relations
   14  and legal assistance, and
   15         WHEREAS, the Dade County Police Benevolent Association
   16  remains civically engaged, fostering relationships with elected
   17  officials and taking an active role in crafting legislation in
   18  the criminal justice field, and
   19         WHEREAS, the Dade County Police Benevolent Association
   20  strives to enhance relations between law enforcement personnel
   21  and the community, and the association’s members have
   22  volunteered their time and given financial support to numerous
   23  nonprofit organizations in Miami-Dade County, NOW, THEREFORE,

   25  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

   27         That the 50th anniversary of the Dade County Police
   28  Benevolent Association is commemorated.
