Florida Senate - 2014 (NP) SR 1760 By Senator Gardiner 13-04045B-14 20141760__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution congratulating the Winter Park High 3 School Wildcats boys basketball team for winning the 4 2014 Florida High School Athletic Association Class 8A 5 Championship. 6 7 WHEREAS, the 2014 Winter Park High School Wildcats boys 8 basketball team finished the season with an outstanding record 9 of 29 wins and 3 losses, and 10 WHEREAS, the Wildcats were ranked ninth overall in the 11 state of Florida in 2014, and 12 WHEREAS, on March 1, 2014, the Winter Park Wildcats 13 defeated Orlando’s Maynard Evans High School Trojans by a score 14 of 66-64 in the Florida High School Athletic Association Class 15 8A Championship, marking the team’s third state championship in 16 the last five seasons and the school’s 83-year history, and 17 WHEREAS, exhibiting exemplary leadership and guidance to 18 the team throughout the season were coaches Donald Blackmon, 19 David Stock, Blake Carter, Edwin Howe, and Griffin Gersonde; 20 Principal Tim Smith; and Athletic Director Michael Brown, and 21 WHEREAS, outstanding skill, sportsmanship, and 22 competitiveness are characteristics that have been consistently 23 demonstrated by Wildcats Kyle Brown, JaQuante Davis, John 24 DeBevoise, Elijah Farley, Austin Goodluck, Ryan Gutmacher, 25 Lashard James, Dewey Johnson, Dakotah Nicoll, Kevin Reiz, 26 Spencer Rivers, Michael Stalder, DeAndre Turner, and Wyatt 27 Wilkes, and 28 WHEREAS, the residents of Winter Park and the surrounding 29 community admire the hard work and team spirit demonstrated by 30 the 2014 Winter Park Wildcats basketball team during the 2013 31 2014 season and commend the team on its many accomplishments, 32 NOW, THEREFORE, 33 34 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 35 36 That the 2014 Winter Park High School Wildcats boys 37 basketball team is congratulated for winning the 2014 Florida 38 High School Athletic Association Class 8A Championship and 39 recognized for the athletic ability, model sportsmanship, and 40 honorable citizenship of its team members and the outstanding 41 accomplishments of its coaches and team members. 42 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be 43 presented to Athletic Director Michael Brown as a tangible token 44 of the sentiments expressed in this resolution.
